My mother’s birthday cake – Spring flowers, gems from blue and white boiled sweets, “geode” slices made from same, and some gelatine balloons…..
Cake iced by one of my students’ (under my tutelage, with some help from me) for her daughter’s 21st birthday. Marbled fondant, “geode” pieces on top, and a “geode” on the front, with blue and white “crystals”. Didn’t she do well?!

The “geode” pieces on the top are finely crushed blue and white clear hard boiled sweets, placed into foil moulded containers (wrap foil around shapes you like), and melted in a low oven, cool, remove foil. The “crystals” are simple the larger pieces of the crushed candy.
